If You Think Yoga is Not for You- Your Wrong

If You Think Yoga is Not for You- Your Wrong

Like most stereotypes, the ones surrounding the yoga community are absurdly inaccurate. You don’t have to be a vegan, where crystals, or be extremely fit to practice yoga. Quite simply, every single person can benefit from yoga. Let me help you debunk a few myths and tell you exactly why yoga is for you.

Myth # 1- I don’t have a yoga body.

Every single body is a yoga body, because every yoga position is adaptable. There are yoga blocks for those with limited flexibility and variations within every yoga posture. It does not matter if you are tall, short, young, old, thick, or thin, you just have to listen to your own body and find the alignment that fits best for you.

Myth # 2- Yoga is for women.

While it may be true that yoga sessions can be female dominated, yoga is becoming increasingly popular among male athletes and professionals as well. Practicing yoga is an incredible way to strengthen the body and build muscle. However, yoga benefits the body in even greater ways by improving the digestive system, energy levels, circulation, agility, etc. These are benefits that every human body needs, regardless of gender.

Myth # 3- All yogis are hippies

When it comes to practicing yoga, you don’t have to ditch your razor, eat vegan, or start writing slam poetry. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of yogis that do these things, but that doesn’t mean you have to be a hippie to enjoy yoga. The benefits of yoga go far beyond the physical body, and far beyond any one lifestyle. Yoga is a great way to practice mindfulness and awareness. It can help you become more connected to your body, your spirituality, to nature, or to those things that matter the most to you.
